Keanu Reeves’ return to the screen as Neo in the latest installment of “The Matrix” saga is not a hard pill to swallow. In fact, fans online were in a frenzy after the official trailer for “The Matrix Resurrections" dropped Thursday morning and racked up more than 2.2. million views within an hour.

The film’s “plot is currently unknown,” according to the film’s official IMDB page. However, the new promo clip features signature scenes of Wachowski-helmed action, sound tracked by the propulsive beat — and “FEED YOUR HEAD!” refrain — of Jefferson Airplane’s trippy, acid-dipped 1967 hit “White Rabbit.”

“The Matrix Resurrections” follows many of the iconic characters from the previous movies. Reeves is joined by returning leading lady Carrie-Anne Moss, once again playing Trinity. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will appear in a role that’s still under wraps. The star-studded cast is also comprised of Daniel Bernhardt, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Jada Pinkett Smith, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff and Jessica Henwick. But Laurence Fishburne will not be returning as Morpheus- telling New York Magazine he was not invited to return- and fellow original co-star Hugo Weaving is also out due to “scheduling issues.”

The Matrix Resurrections is set to be released in theaters and on HBO Max on Dec. 22nd.
