Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is getting a documentary coming this July

Fans of the spooky children's books Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark not only have a new film adaptation to be excited about, but now also a documentary about the books as well! Coming July 16th the documentary film Scary Stories is being released by Wild Eye Releasing. The film, directed by Cody Meirick, with feature interviews with the original author's (Alvin Schwartz) family members, other horror authors like R.L. Stine, folklorists, and artists and fans.

The three-volume series, written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell from 1981-1991 took stories from folklore and urban legends and put them together in a series of short stories that kids flocked to. Many schools at the time pulled the books from their libraries due to the creepy and sometimes violent illustrations depicted in them, but that did not stop an entire generation of young people from loving these creepy tales.

Fans of the series have a lot to look forward to this year and we are happy to join them in their excitement!
