PRODUCTION BEGINS ON DISNEY’S LIVE-ACTION “MULAN”

Epic Tale of Legendary Chinese Warrior Comes to Life with

Cast Including Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee with

Gong Li and Jet Li Directed by Niki Caro

Disney's latest live-action film is ramping up and ready to start production. Mulan is the latest film to get the live-action treatment following the success of The Jungle Book. The original animated film hit the big screen in 1998, but fans can look forward to seeing Mulan live and in color on March 27, 2020.  Casting is shaping up nicely with Levenson Group reporting:

"Liu Yifei (“The Forbidden Kingdom,” “Once Upon a Time”) was cast as Hua Mulan following a year-long global casting search. Joining her in the film are: Donnie Yen (“Star Wars: Rogue One”); Jason Scott Lee (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny”); Yoson An (“The Meg”); Utkarsh Ambudkar (“Pitch Perfect”); Ron Yuan (“Marco Polo”); Tzi Ma (“Arrival”); Rosalind Chao (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”); Cheng Pei-Pei (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”); Nelson Lee; Chum Ehelepola; with Gong Li (“Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Raise the Red Lantern”) and Jet Li (“Shaolin Temple,” “Lethal Weapon 4”)."

We could not be more geeked out to see this film brought to the big screen again. This was such an epic tale that it definitely deserves to be retold in living color. This legendary story is still one of China's most popular folktales and is currently still apart of much of the curriculum in Chinese schools even today.  Only time will tell if this will be as impressive as the animated film, but we are looking forward to it either way.
