Stunning Rare Quintuple Rainbow Was Captured By Photographer In New Jersey

Isn't this amazing?!

Photographer John Entwistle captured a rare, beautiful sight, while the sun was going down in Jersey Shore following hurricane Florence, a quintuple rainbow!!

We've all seen rainbows and in different forms, but have you ever seen a set of five rainbows together?

On Sept 18 Entwistle wrote on Instagram, "I could be wrong but that sure looks like a quintuple rainbow at sunset tonight over the Jersey Shore, NJ.”

Supernumerary rainbows like this one Entwistle captured are super rare. Typically, 2 or 3 supernumeraries are the most common type of rainbows we see, so this was an exceptional discovery. When we see these types of rainbows they're usually not very vivid and fade in color, but this quintuple was extremely vivid!

These usually occur when raindrops are identical and are close together, so when the light shines through in waves creating color, the color stays vivid!

Look out for one of these stunning quintuple rainbows in the sky!
