I'm not usually one to celebrate the Dallas area in any way, but these were new to me and they sound awesome. I ran across a headline at Boing Boing using the phrase "Texas Twinkies" and had to know more.
Apparently, a Texas Twinkie is a creation of Hutchins Barbecue. First served in 2014, the Texas Twinkie is now their most requested item. Hutchins Barbecue describes the Texas Twinkie as follows:
A large jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and our smoked brisket; wrapped in thick-cut bacon
The North Texas barbecue institution has locations in Frisco and McKinney, but you can order Texas Twinkies (by the dozen), brisket, sausage, and more online to ship anywhere in the country.
I'm not quite ready to place an order, but I'm thinking about it. And next time I find myself anywhere near Frisco or McKinney, I'm definitely stopping in.
