Dad Spends Daughter's College Fund on New Wife's 'Business Idea'

When it comes to your child's future, as a parent you do everything that you can to support them. This includes helping them out with higher education, like college, if you are financially able to.One girl is absolutely furious with her father after he went and blew $30,000 that was saved for her college fund on a "business idea" that her stepmother had.

The man took to the popular Reddit forum, "Am I The A**hole?" to air his grievances with why he doesn't see taking his daughter's college money as a big deal. The 55-year-old man began by explaining that his wife of two years, who is 24 years his junior at 31-years-old is "bored,"and that she is unhappy feeling that way.

He said that jobs were "out of the question" because she did not go to college and that she feels that she is too old to go to college now. The man then went on to talk about how his wife's sister talked about opening up a boutique. He noticed that her moods began to improve when talking about opening their own shop came about.

However, the women were having trouble securing a loan for things like overhead and starting the business up in the first place. Plus, investors say that the market is currently "oversaturated" with boutiques. So,the husband stepped in and took the $30,000 that he and his late wife had saved up for their daughter. He figured that since she wouldn't be going to school for another four years, that it wouldn't be a big deal. He was wrong.

He said that his daughter was extremely upset and kept trashing his wife's business calling her dumb, and her business dumb. He went on to ask the community if he was the a**hole for doing this. He said he did not want his wife to go into an "early midlife crisis because she feels powerless in life."

Turns out, Reddit had some strong opinions on the topic. One commenter said, "Lol. Going back for another degree at 31, start in a couple weeks. This woman sounds awful. She’s unhappy because she’s an unhappy person. Dumping your daughters DEAD mothers contribution for her college to go to your new wife’s new adventure? Holy sh*t. YTA across the board. X100. She’s not working.. so why can’t she go to school?"

Many others felt the same way. Plenty of them were saying that they were over 31 years old and they are in the midst of getting a degree of some kind. They were either going back to college or taking online courses. Another commenter said that the dad was "spitting on the memory of his daughter's mother."
