In Katy, Texas, over 1,000 protesters showed up to a student-organized march Thursday June 4th.
The event, in honor of George Floyd, was held by a group called 'Katy for Justice' started by three Katy ISD students Erika Alverez, Jeffrey Jin and Foyin Dosunmu. All three spent many hours organizing the meet-up.
“It’s a way to speak out about systemic racism in America, to organize Katy under that common goal and to recognize the issues prevalent in our society,” Alverez said.
The organized group stated they thought it was only going to get 200 attendees, but showed the number of people who confirmed on Facebook and Eventbrite pages over 1200.
