Taco Bell's 7-Layer Burrito was one of the chain's standout veggie options from 1993 to 2020. They killed the 7-Layer, along with the Mexican Pizza and a bunch of other staples, in an effort to streamline the menu.
According to The Fast Food Post, the 7-Layer Burrito is about to make its triumphant (if limited-time) return to the menu. The twist is that it will now incorporate seasoned beef and Taco Bell's popular Nacho Fries instead of rice. The 7-Layer Nacho Fries Burrito will include Nacho Fries, seasoned beef, black beans, warm nacho cheese sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, guacamole, low-fat sour cream, and chipotle sauce. Pretty sure I count 9 layers there, but I'm no food scientist.
Taco Bell will also be offering 7-Layer Nacho Fries. That will be a big serving of Nacho Fries, topped with seasoned beef, black beans, warm nacho cheese sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, guac, low-fat sour cream, and creamy chipotle sauce.
No word yet on a veggie version, but I would imagine you'll be able to order it without seasoned beef. And with other menu items that include rice, it seems likely you'll be able to order the classic 7-Layer as well.
The new 7-Layer Burrito and 7-Layer Nacho Fries are set to launch Thursday, November 17.
