The Houston Astros players and coaches received their 2021 American League Championship rings at Minute Maid Park Monday in a ceremony prior to their 2022 season home opener.
The rings, designed by Jostens Professional Sports Division, feature the iconic Astros “H” made from 15 custom-cut diamonds, symbolizing of the team's 15 franchise postseason appearances. The logo is backed by a star set with orange sapphires surrounded by 40 round diamonds and 42 blue sapphires. The words "American League Champions," accented by four diamonds, are in yellow gold to signify the team’s 2021 American League Team Gold Glove award. The four diamonds represent the Astros' four league pennants. And around the perimeter of the ring top are 60 diamonds paying tribute to the Astros 60th season in MLB.
The left side of the ring features the player’s name in gold and the player's jersey number in diamonds.
On the right side is the championship year 2021, the American League Trophy in gold and a single diamond.
Inside the ring is the Astros logo and the championship year dates. The palm side of the ring displays the team’s 2021 rally cry “FOR THE H.”
Overall, the rings feature 104 round diamonds, 15 custom-cut diamonds, four princess-cut diamonds, 42 genuine blue sapphires and eight genuine orange sapphires. In total, the rings have a gemstone carat weight of about 7.1.
