Jay Went To Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, In Hawaii

You may have noticed that I was on vacation last week.

I took my wife to Aulani, a Disney resort & spa, in Hawaii to celebrate her birthday!

When you arrive at the resort in Ko Olina, you'll notice the architecture really stands out.

The towers are easy to spot from a distance and they surround a massive play area.

There are all kinds of pools, splash pads and hot tubs on-site and we spent time in every one of them.

There's pool areas of various depths for small kids, adults only, water slides and even a lazy river.

One of my favorite areas was Rainbow Reef.

It's an area where you can snorkel and get up-close & personal with all kinds of colorful fish.

Access to the beach is just a few steps away!

You can swim, paddleboard, boogie board or just relax on a lounger.

No need to wake up early, Julie and I never had any problem finding a place to sit.

There's also a bunch of eateries to choose from.

You'll find Makahiki downstairs. We had an amazing dinner there. This is also where you can join Mickey & Minnie for breakfast.

While we were poolside, we made sure to visit the Ulu Cafe and Off The Hook.

I made sure to stop by Papalua Shaved Ice to get this sweet treat...

You can choose from all kinds of flavors. Mine had strawberry and root beer.

Don't be surprised if you run into your favorite characters throughout Aulani.

I saw Stitch, Angel and Goofy walking around by the pools...

I even ran into our gracious hosts, Mickey & Minnie!

One of my favorite things about our stay at Aulani was the Ka Wa'a Luau.

I have never seen anything like this before and it totally blew me away.

It's a wonderful trip through Hawaiian history which includes crafts, culture and food.

The Luau features lots of singing and dancing.

I won't spoil all the surprises and guest appearances, so I'll just post a quick pic of the fire dancing...

It doesn't matter where you sit, you're going to have a great view!

Something else I'd like to mention are the Menehune.

They look like this....

They're really good at building stuff and helped build Aulani.

There's about 300 Menehune hidden around the resort.

I even found a couple inside the keyhole of the wooden dresser across from the gift shop!

I'll wrap this up by saying the whole vacation was fantastic.

We were relaxed, treated like VIP's and had so much fun.
