Simone Biles wins record seventh national women's all-around title

Spring's Simone Biles finished nearly five points ahead of runner-up Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles for her record seventh U.S. gymnastics title Sunday night.

The 24-year-old's performance further enhanced her bid to become the first woman to win back-to-back Olympic championships in more than 50 years. The U.S. Olympic team trials will be held June 24-27 in St. Louis, and the Tokyo Games are less than seven weeks away.

The USA Gymnastics star and four-time Olympic gold medal winner skipped her latest stunner, the Yurchenko double-pike vault she performed twice at the U.S. Classic last month. Instead, she went with a couple of slightly less difficult vaults. She also excelled on the beam and the floor.

Her two-day points total of 119.650 was nearly five better than Lee and her teammate Chiles. Her total Sunday score of 60.100 was her highest since 2018.
