I think covering utility boxes in artwork is a brilliant idea!
When I drive down Kirby, near NRG Stadium, I see all the boxes covered in Texans art and they look great.
If you, or someone you know, would like their art to cover utility boxes, here's your chance to join the 2021 Mini Murals Program from UP Art Studio.
When you join the Artists Registry, you'll be asked to submit your proposal or template to cover utility boxes in different neighborhoods.
There are a lot of really creative ideas making the rounds on social media.
The artists chosen will receive $1000 ($750 artist fee + $250 materials).
The Mini Murals Program began in Houston back in 2012 and grows every year.
It's been so successful, that the idea has spread to many other cities.
