A Grease prequel series was announced a while back and was planned for HBO Max. A behind the scenes shuffle has the show moving to Paramount's streaming service (currently called CBS All Access, but re-branding to Paramount+ soon), changing titles, and shifting it's focus to the Pink Ladies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he show will now tell the story of how the Rydell High girl gang came together and how the reverence, fear and moral panic they sparked changed the school forever.
The producers on this series are also working on a prequel movie called Summer Lovin', which would elaborate on the tale of Danny and Sandy's first meeting over summer vacation.
