Last April, we talked about how Houston Rockets superstar Russell Westbrook was donating 650 computers to Comp-U-Dopt.
It was pretty big news. We talked about it HERE and Russell also talked about it with Jimmy Fallon...
As the new school year gets closer, I wanted to remind everyone about this wonderful organization.
Comp-U Dopt is a nonprofit that gives new life to the technology you don't use anymore.
They'll rebuild and update old computers and then distribute them to kids here in the greater Houston area, so that these kids can do schoolwork, browse the internet and learn skills that will help them forever.
All free!
Some of the items they need include laptop and desktop computers, peripherals, monitors, network equipment, servers, copiers and printers. You can find a full list HERE.
If you'd like to help Comp-U-Dopt help kids, please consider donating your old machines, money or your time. They can always use volunteers to help load trucks, organize, teach and distribute. CLICK HERE to get involved.
As I write this, they have handed out more than 23,000 computers, served more than 26,000 students and given more than 100,000 hours of training!
