In Fennville, MI, Joan Donaldson and John Van Voorhees created a 4 acre field of poppies in memory of late son who served in the military.
They own and operate Pleasant Hill Blueberry Farm and wanted to create something that was beautiful for people to see after dealing with the stress that's been going on these past few months.
They adopted a son, Mateo Donaldson, who served a tour in Afghanistan and was a bee keeper on the farm. Once he got back, he had PTSD and took his own life. "We decided to create the poppy field in memory of him, because all these flowers feed the bees and butterflies, which he loved caring for so much. He's not buried very far from this field." Joan said.
Many people have been visiting, and they're both very happy to share this with everyone.
Pleasant Hill Blueberry Farm is located at 5859 124th Ave. in Fennville, Mi.
