Quarantine or not, the debate among parents (and the Sunny Morning Show) goes on whether or not screen time is a good activity for kids and families. Dana tends to lean toward leaving the screens off, and sticking to non-electronic methods of entertainment and teaching. Jay on the other hand has embraced tech and thinks modern technology, tablets, computers and video games are healthy, constructive and fun for everyone. They've both provided their top five activities with or without screens. Likely a mix of both is the way to go. Which do you think are better?
Jay's Five Activities Using Screens
1.) The Heads-Up App

My kids discovered this at school. It makes time fly by and everyone gets a kick out of it. There's even a Disney version!
2.) Funny Filters
The kids will spend all day making themselves laugh and look nutty.
3.) TikTok
Whether it's coordinating dance moves, doing challenges or watching funny videos, they can do TikTok's all day!
Even Astros Alex Bregman is doing it...

4.) Video Conferencing
Zoom, Teams, Skype...It's not just for school and work. My kids have been using it to keep in touch with friends and family.
5.) Streaming Apps
Disney Plus has been a lifesaver in my house. Especially since they added Frozen 2 and Onward.
Dana's Five Activities Without Screens
1.) Cooking
Kids can help mom and dad around the kitchen, and learn to help clean up. Teach them to make some of their own dishes and desserts!
2.) Gardening
Clean up the yard and add some curbside appeal to your home, or beautify the back yard. You never know, you may inspire that green thumb and raise the next Randy Lemmon.
3.) Family Newsletter
Document the days and weeks with a fun activity that you can share with family members and friends outside the home.
4.) Board games / puzzles
It's never too early to start learning those strategy points in Monopoly.
5.) Water balloons
Work out that aggression and pelt your kids in the face with a water balloon. Just kidding, but it's a great activity to beat the Houston heat!
