It Was National Night Out In My Neighborhood!

Last night was National Night Out in our neighborhood!

This was our time to meet our first responders and say thank you for all they do.

All kinds of emergency vehicles were on display.

I'll start with this bad boy.....

That is just one of many vehicles we got to see up close. If you notice, that truck has K-9 written on the back. That's because it belongs to this guy....

That's Rudy. He's a bit of a celebrity in our neighborhood because he caught some hooligan who was sneaking around our backyards not too long ago.

Rudy was also featured on the news when he got bit by a copperhead. You can read about that here and here.

In addition to the law enforcement SUV's, cars and motorcycles that were on display....there was also this behemoth....

That RV is used as a mobile command center. It saw lots of action during the flooding. There's a bunch of computers inside. Even with all the workstations inside, it was incredibly roomy.

Our fire department was also on hand! You should have seen the kids light up when the fire truck horn went off. It was awesome...and loud.

Our National Night Out wasn't just on the ground. If you look up, we had a pretty cool flyby by an Apache helicopter. They flew around several times and were so close!

One of the biggest highlights for me was meeting Sheriff Troy Nehls! I've seen him on TV numerous times and I've often described him as a superhero.

And yes, I follow him on Facebook.

He is one of the nicest guys I've ever met.

My family and I had so much fun. Everyone was really nice and approachable.

There were food trucks, snow cones and ice creams on hand for everyone to enjoy as we walked around.

What a great event.
