Passenger Falls And Dies After Hanging Out Of Van And Killing Bicyclist

Two people died in what Las Vegas authorities are calling an "absolute senseless act." Police said that the driver and passenger of a minivan tried to assault pedestrians walking on the sidewalk on Sunday (October 25) morning.

The driver, who fled the scene and has not been identified, pulled up close to the sidewalk, while another man in the passenger seat hung out the window and tried to shove a couple that was walking.

The passenger failed to knock them to the ground, so the driver approached a woman on her bicycle in the bike lane. The passenger reached out and shoved her off her bike. She hit the ground and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the minivan fell out of the window and rolled across the asphalt for 150 feet before striking his head on a street light. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.

"Senseless is an understatement," Lt. Raymond Spencer said during a press conference. "You have a woman who was out riding her bicycle, and they pull up next to her and strike her, causing her to die. It's an absolute senseless act. There's no reason that I could tell you as to why it occurred other than complete stupidity."

Authorities are still searching for the driver of the vehicle, who was described as a Hispanic male between 18 and 22-years-old.
