National Nurses Week Freebies and Discounts

Each year, National Nurses Week runs May 6-12, which coincides with Florence Nightingale’s birthday on the 12th. It's intended to recognize nurses for their highly specialized knowledge, critical thinking skills and seemingly never-ending compassion.

Meanwhile, some nurses have reported their employers have shown their appreciation in less than ideal ways. Some report receiving lollipops ("for days that suck") and pet rocks (painted with the words "you rock").

No joke. And many nurses now wait for Nurses Week to post memes about their employers' gift fails.

In response, the job search website connectRN has launched "Nurses' Weak Gifts," where anemic gifts can be exchanged for proper presents. Nurses can share a photo of their most ridiculous employer gifts on social media and tag connectRN. If they're among the first 1,200 to submit, they'll receive thoughtful gift boxes of scented candles, gourmet chocolates, and tea with mugs.
