RNC Invites President Trump To Speak At Spring Meeting

Do you miss Donald Trump? Well, he is going to be back in front of a microphone this weekend.

It's the RNC Spring Meeting in Palm Beach, Florida. Republicans have rented out the entire Four Seasons Resort, with Trump set to speak from Mar a Lago.

So what can we expect? Matt Mackowiak who heads the Travis County Republicans told KTRH, "You're going to see him talk an awful lot about the border crisis. I think you'll also see him defend his record over 4 years, what he accomplished, and why it mattered. But I also think you're going to see him broadly criticize the Biden - Harris administration, and the direction that they are taking the country."

And as for any kind of big announcement by Trump about his future plans? Mackowiak says it's still too early. "I think if he had to decide today he'd probably run again, but he doesn't have to decide today." "So the RNC meeting isn't going to answer all these questions, but it is going to send a message and bring some clarity as to what kind of role he's going to play."

In addition to Trump, some of the other big names on hand include Mike Pompeo, Ron Desantis, Kristi Noem, Lindsey Graham, Rick Scott, and Tom Cotton.

"This is a cattle call, it's an opportunity to hone your message and to make an impression and show that you're a serious contender for 2024" Mackowiak says.

With so much at stake, not only in 2024, but also in next year's midterm elections, Mackowiak says unity is key for the GOP. "We have an opportunity to take the House back, and maybe even the Senate. Those are massive, massive outcomes that are going to affect the future of our country."

But at the end of the day, it all starts with Trump. "Whether they like each other or not, Trump and the RNC have to find a way to work together" says Mackowiak. "The stakes couldn't be higher."
