Texas Music Legend Passes Away

Viva Terlingua, Ridin' High, Live at Gurene, Jerry Jeff Walker - It's About Time

Just a few of the albums that made us two-step, sing along and smile over decades. Jerry Jeff Walker was a New York native who adopted Texas as his home and was adopted right back by Texas music lovers, maverick lovers, friends and fans. Former KTRH newsman Dan Rather posted this: "Sad word comes this morning that my friend and neighbor Jerry Jeff Walker has passed away. HE WAS AN all around good guy. He will be missed."

Walker's most famous song and certainly one of the most covered songs ever is Mr. Bojangles. He wrote it about a street dancer he met while in a drunk tank in New Orleans. Rat Pack member Sammy Davis, Jr. made it his night club theme song!

By the way - he wasn't always Jerry Jeff - or even Walker. He was born Ronald Clyde Crosby.
