Family-Friendly Halloween Events In The Houston Area

Many people won't feel comfortable with their usual trick-or-treat routine this year. With that in mind, here's a rundown of fun Halloween-themed events and activities happening this month in the Houston area.

Zoo Boo

Every weekend on October the Houston Zoo is putting on a family-friendly Halloween event with costumes strongly encouraged and attractions like the Spooky Train Village, a Friendly Dragon, more than 10 different Instagrammable photo opps, and a wildlife carousel that's been transformed into a Scary-Go-Round.

Boo on the Boardwalk

The Kemah Boardwalk’s annual Halloween event is back and happening every weekend in October! Family-friendly activities include spooky crafts, a balloon artist, trick or treating, a magic show, a haunted fun house, creepy creatures, live music and discounts for kids in costume.

Halloween Town 2020

Constellation Field's Halloween event will feature a costume parade, oversized games, balloon artists, face painting, concessions, and more.

Fall Fun Day at George Ranch Historical Park

On 10/31, join in on the fun and participate in this year’s Historic Halloween Family Fun Day! From turnips to pumpkins, learn about the history of the Jack-o-lantern and other myths and lore behind Halloween traditions. Explore the historic buildings to learn about mourning practices throughout the centuries, and enjoy hands-on activities, crafts and trick or treating along the way! Don’t forget your family friendly costume!

Deer Park Pumpkin Town Drive-Thru

The city of Deer Park is hosting a free drive-thru Halloween event 2pm - 5pm on 10/31 at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center. There will be multiple decorated stations with treats at each one, costume contests for kids, dogs, and even cars, plus a number of local businesses will be set up for drive-thru trick-or-treating.

Trunk or Treat Parade at Edna Mae Washington Park

Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia is bringing Baytown a fun event where families will be able to enjoy Halloween fun from the comfort and safety of their cars.

Live From Jones Hall

The Houston Symphony will be celebrating Halloween with a pair of live stream concerts. 'Ghosts, Ghouls, & Goblins' will be a morning of haunted musical fun on 10/31 with pieces from Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more. 'Haunted Halloween Pops' happens 10/30 - 11/1 and features selections from Psycho, Harry Potter, and more

Trick-or-Treat at the 1838 Menard House

Galveston's oldest residence will have staff and volunteers handing out pre-packaged treats on the porch this Halloween.

Lone Star Flight Museum's Halloween in the Hangar

The Lone Star Flight Museum brings you spooky family fun among incredible aircraft, with free admission for kids in costume and safe, fun twist on trick or treating.

Science Spooktacular

October 19 - 24, Houston Arboretum & Nature Center presents a week of Halloween fun, some virtual and some in-person. Daily activities will range from spooky bedtime stories to creating your own slime in a fun science show. Kids will even have the chance to visit the Arboretum and put their nature knowledge to the test on the Halloween Trail!
