Ellen Returns 9/21, Will Address Toxic Workplace Reports On Season Premiere

The Ellen DeGeneres Show is back Monday, September 21 to start its 18th season and the host says she plans to tackle the allegations of abuse and a toxic work environment that have floated around her and the show over the past few months. According to Variety, Degeneres said:

"I can’t wait to get back to work and back to our studio. And, yes, we’re gonna talk about it."

Tiffany Haddish will join Ellen in-studio, but with no audience, for the premiere episode. The show's first month back will include appearances by Kerry Washington, Alec Baldwin, Chrissy Teigen, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Adam Sandler and Orlando Bloom.

After allegations by staff of mistreatment, poor communication, pandemic-related pay reductions, and harassment by top executives on the show, three producers were let go and Ellen made a tearful apology to the staff. The negative buzz has definitely challenged the host's super-nice public persona and it will be interesting to see how she deals with the situation on the air.
