Free Fishing Day In Texas Is This Saturday, June 6th

It's time to grab your fishing poles y'all. This weekend on June 6, you'll be able to fish in any public Texas water body without a fishing license.

Fishing is a good opportunity to get out of the house and try something new with the family or by yourself while maintaining social distancing.

“Free Fishing Day is a wonderful opportunity for anglers to share their knowledge, skills, equipment, and love for fishing with a new participant, yet it’s also more than that,” said Craig Bonds, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department inland fisheries director. "A fishing license purchase is one of the simplest and most effective way people can support fisheries science and management.” Bonds hopes that many people trying fishing for the first time will learn that purchasing a fishing license is an act of conservation.

Free Fishing Day is an annual event held on the first Saturday of June.
