Heather Locklear had a rough 2018, with an arrest inFebruary, then again inJune. Now the 57-year-oldMelrose Placeactress, who'slong struggled with mental health issues and substance abuse problems, is trying to get help and take responsibility for her actions. That's what sources tellTMZ, which reports Locklear pleaded no contest Friday to eight misdemeanors, including six involving battery against an EMT or cop. The other two counts involve resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer, per aVentura County District Attorney's statementcited byCNN.
The good news for Locklear: There won't be jail time, with a California judge instead sentencing her to 30 days in a residential mental-health center. A 120-day jail sentence has been stayed, which means Locklear has to put in her time at the treatment center or risk ending up behind bars.
Locklear will also be on three years of supervised probation, during which time she can't have a weapon, non-prescribed drugs, or alcohol. In the February 2018 incident, Locklear was allegedly under the influence and attacked her boyfriend, as well as a responding police officer who showed up at her home. In the June 2018 incident, she was accused of being heavily intoxicated and attacking an EMT and an officer who responded to a disturbance call at her residence.
A source tellsPeoplethat Locklear has been in and out of rehab, and that her troubles had been affecting her loved ones, especially Ava Sambora, her 21-year-old daughter with ex Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. "This has been tearing up her family," the source says. "It's been an ongoing issue for many, many years. It has been horrible for Ava."
Locklear must report to the treatment center by Sept. 6.
