Firefighters Set Up Ladders to Help Raccoons Escape Warehouse Fire [VIDEO]

When it comes to getting people out of dangerous situations, firefighters leave no one, not even furry friends, behind.

Firefighters in South Bend, Indiana, were successful in saving a pair of raccoons who had been trapped on the roof after a warehouse fire broke out on Sunday. Paul Bierwagen provided a video on Facebook showing how the firefights propped two ladders on the side of the building to assist their escape.

Children can be heard cheering nearby as the two raccoons descend to safety from the smoke-covered roof. A Facebook post by the South Bend Police Department stated, "Some people would ask, 'Why save the raccoons?' Life safety and property conservation are two priorities on a fire scene."

The South Bend Police Department also thanked the firefighters for taking a few minutes to let the raccoons escape. Does that mean the raccoons will get one free year of not eating their trash as a thank you?
