Amtrak Is Having a 2-for-1 Sale to Inspire You to Travel With Your Mom

Mother’s Day is nearly here. If you haven’t picked up a gift yet for your dear mom, fear not, as Amtrak's 2-for-1 sale has your back.

This year, you can celebrate the woman who brought you into this world by giving her the gift of train travel. Best of all for you, that gift won’t cost a lot thanks to Amtrak’s Unconditional Love Flash Sale.

“Treat mom, grandma, a favorite aunt or another loved one to a memorable opportunity to travel on Amtrak with a guest or consider surprising her with a special trip for the two of you,” reps for Amtrak said in a statement.

From Thursday, May 9 to Monday, May 13, would-be travelers can pick up tickets at steep discounts. The special prices are valid for travel for two nationwide between June 1 through Sept. 30 with no blackout dates.

Tickets are available for routes along Amtrak’s national network of 500 destinations in 46 states. The sale includes one-way tickets from Boston to New York City for $83; Portland, Maine to Boston for just $29; and Chicago to Kansas City for $89.

“Customers can step right off the train and onto sidewalks of big cities and small-towns alike,” the Amtrak statement added. “Tour historic landmarks and national parks. Visit museums and mountains; coastlines and concert halls. Savor regional cuisine and become immersed in local culture.”

In addition to the Mother’s Day sale, Amtrak Guest Rewards members can also register to earn double points on travel during Double Days, now through May 18.

All sale prices will be automatically discounted from the standard fare price. Customers looking to take advantage of the sale must use discount code C250 to get the discount.

Sale prices are only available for one-way Coach Class fares and upgrades to Business Class are not permitted. Additionally, customers traveling on Acela Express trains may not upgrade to First Class. Space is limited, and sale prices are not available on all trains or at all times, so act fast and get going with mom now.
