Jason Momoa wants to see a major change in the health of our planet. And to get the point across, he’s making a major change to his own appearance.
The actor, 39, shaved off his signature beard, sharing a video of the big moment to his YouTube page on Wednesday.
“Goodbye Drogo, Aquaman, Declan, [and] Baba!” Momoa wrote — referencing the bearded characters he played inGame of Thrones,Aquaman, Frontier, and his upcoming TV seriesSee, respectively. “I’m shaving this beast off, it’s time to make a change.”
It’s the first time Momoa has shaved since 2012, he said in the video as he cut away his long beard in the middle of the desert to reveal his bare chin (and perfectly chiseled jawline).
“Looks pretty good!” he remarked.
Momoa’s transformation was inspired by a new line of canned water that he is helping launch with theBall Corporation.
As he explained in the video, aluminum cans, unlike plastic bottles, are “100 percent recyclable.”
“I just want to do this to bring awareness because plastics are killing our planet and I think we have a solution,” Momoa said. “I don’t want to bitch about it [but] there’s only one thing that will really help our planet and save our planet — as long as we recycle — and that’s aluminum.”
“About 75 percent of all aluminum that’s ever been used is still in use today,” Momoa said. “And it’s 100 percent recyclable. You drink the can and in about 60 days, it’ll be back. 100 percent. Infinitely recyclable.”
