E.L. James, author of the erotic 50 Shades trilogy, has finally stepped away from the beguiling Anastasia and Christian with her upcoming book, The Mister.
“It’s about an aristocratic Englishman who meets a young woman,” the author, 55, told NBC’s Today on Thursday. “It’s a 21st century Cinderella [story].”
While fans are familiar with James’s BDSM-laced love story that was adapted into the steamy, eponymous films, The Mister is a completely different tale. The book, out April 2019, follows the growing romance between the wealthy Maxim Trevelyan and Alessia Demachi, according to Today.
“It’s hopefully another inspiring love story with two completely new characters, doing their thing,” James told Todaycorrespondent Keir Simmons. “Shenanigans ensuing. Boy meets girl, you know.”
According to the book’s press release, it’s “a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.” And for fans who loved the 50 Shades sex scenes, don’t worry. The Mister also features a lot of erotic moments.
“Yes, lots,” the author responded with a laugh. “It’s a passionate, erotic love story. ‘Erotic’ is the word you were looking for. It’s not 50 Shades erotic, it’s erotic because it’s not 50 Shades. It’s a completely different story.”
