Brr! Houston Wakes up to Coldest Temps of Year

Clear skies on Saturday night, and high winds that accompanied a weekend cold front mean many Houstonians are waking up to subfreezing temperatures this morning.

Winds gusted to more than 40-miles an hour throughout Saturday, keeping Centerpoint Energy crews busy restoring power to customers all over the region.

Overnight lows in the northern suburbs fell to near freezing with wind chills in some areas in the high teens.

Runners who are gathering for the Chevron Houston Marathon this morning are in for an uncomfortable start, with wind chills expected in the 20’s at race time.

High temperatures today are only expected to reach the upper 40’s or low 50’s, with another chilly night in the forecast before the MLK holiday on Monday.
