Lake Conroe Is Closed

Friday night’s torrential downpour raised the water level at Lake Conroe by two feet, leading the San Jacinto River Authority and Montgomery County Constable Precinct 1 office to temporarily close the lake.

Many of the docks and bulwarks are below water level and it was decided for safety’s sake it is best to keep watercraft tied up.

Boat ramps are closed off and officials are patrolling the water to keep people out.

The River Authority is releasing water from the dam at a rate of 8,181 feet per second.
