Is Your Pet Left Or Right Pawed?

SO this is very interesting....90% of us are right handed and nearly 10% of us are left handed. Now someone has considered this is animals. A study on dogs (yes, someone actually took time and money to study this) says dogs aren’t ambidextrous either. When they need to use a paw to move an object or grab a bone, a dog will most always use the same paw. That means your dog is either right pawed or left pawed. What they also found out is that results were almost evenly split, meaning half favored their left paw, the other half their right. They determined right pawed dogs handled stress better, making them better guide dogs.

This is also true for cats. I provide my own scientific research. When we had two cats, Lucky and Ranger, we noticed that Lucky would move his bowl with his right paw. Now here's the thing, standing to his left at the food dish would be the younger cat Ranger. WE too noticed that Ranger would reach for the food dish with his left paw, Then Lucky with his right and so on and so forth between them. So we moved the food bowl over, made it so Ranger left paw would be by himself and move it our of his reach and TADA! Ranger would always reach for it with his left paw.

How bout this too? When you call your cat or dog to come to you....pay attention to the paw they start walking with. Its usually always their dominate paw. A good indicator.
