If you were devastated in November 2020 when Taco Bell yanked Mexican Pizza from its restaurants, rejoice!
The chain says the delicacy will return on Thurs., May 19. It's made with two crispy flour shells covered with beans, pizza sauce, beef, tomatoes and melted cheese. They cost $4.49 or, as a combo with two tacos and a large drink, $8.99.
Taco Bell says it removed the popular item to cut costs and leave a "lighter footprint on our planet," noting that pizza packaging accounts for millions of pounds of waste paperboard every year in the U.S.
But nearly 200,000 signatures in a Change.org petition has prompted the popular item's return. While Doja Cat claimed credit for the item's reappearance during her recent Cochella performance, Taco Bell recognized fan Krish Jagirdar — who launched the petition — as a key player in the comeback.
Taco Bell Rewards Members can get early access starting Tues., May 17. And members who got a "mystery reward" during the Super Bowl can get one free May 19-June 1.
