Moviegoers in Austin got some extra excitement during a screening of “The Batman” over the weekend.
An genuine bat was seen flitting around inside The Moviehouse & Eatery by Cinépolis, so the management halted the film and called animal control, which tried unsuccessfully to shoo the critter out.
Guests were offered ticket refunds, but most decided to hang in and watch the film with the bat.
Manager Heidi Deno speculated the critter may have been released into the theater as a prank, so they'll be beefing up security and checking all bags thoroughly.
Around 1% of wild bats carry rabies, but there were no reports of anyone being bitten.
