Take A Tour Of The Nao Santa Maria In Galveston

How does the rhyme go? "In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue".

One of the ships he sailed with was the Santa Maria.

An exact replica of that ship, named the Nao Santa Maria, was built to celebrate the 525th anniversary of the meeting between two worlds.

That ship arrived in Galveston last night.

The Nao Victoria Foundation builds historical ships and sails them around the world.

Several years ago, they began construction on a full scale replica of the Santa Maria.

You can check out that process HERE.

About a year later, it was done and the Nao Santa Maria currently sails the ocean blue on a mission of education.

I think this is pretty cool.

It's only here for a limited time though.

Be sure to check out the 1877 ELISSA while you're there.
