My 5yo daughter Beatrix is getting in to gaming fast! Among all the usual activities (coloring books, toys, kinetic sand, art projects, etc.) we'll spend a couple hours spread out through the week, and a little more on the weekends. She loves Mario games (new and retro), some of the old Sega Genesis Mickey Mouse games, and the newer Scott Pilgrim game (we play co-op). Sometimes she just wants me to play and she wants to watch. I grew up a gamer, starting around the same age (on the Atari 2600) so I'm all for it, and love that we have something else we can do together. My son Ozzy is only 2, so he's not quite sure what's going on but he'll hang out and watch us play too, and he's got an old controller he'll play with sometimes.
Valentine's Day was a lot of fun this year. The wife and I didn't get to go out, and she had to work for a few hours, but the fam spent most of the day together, and we got the kids a nice little set of prizes to open and play with. My daughter BB loves Polly Pocket, and they are easy to store and don't take up too much room, lol, so I lean in to that collection when I can. My son Ozzy loves Blippi, and trucks, and so he was a bit overwhelmed with the Blippi Recycling truck toy.
Ozzy, Beatrix and the family dog Sassafras all like to snuggle up in the big bed with the TV on. The Disney+ app is their favorite. Friday nights, this is our routine. Sometimes they'll make room for me or my wife Jackie, if we're lucky.
Late late late at night usually on one weekend night, after the kiddos are off to bed, I'll gather some friends for a virtual podcast recording session. Here's Anthony Chase, the last one standing after we had a couple beers and folks started to powder out. We recorded a podcast covering the latest episode of WandaVision. Give it a listen! It's called "Off The Top" and it's available pretty much everywhere podcasts are available, including Apple, Google, Spotify and iHeartRadio.
Houston was dusted a bit with snow of course. We stayed in all day Monday, and were lucky not to have lost any power. We moved to Houston from Cincinnati in 2017, so are no strangers to winter weather like this. I've been stuck in enough snow in my life that I don't even risk it any more. I'll avoid the roads any way I can. I'm not normally on the air overnights in to Monday morning, but did a fill-in for that time, just to relay any emergency updates and remind folks about the coming storm.
