During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, grocery stores have been staying up-to-date with the outbreak and CDC guidelines by adjusting their store policies to keep shoppers and workers safe.Many introduced special shopping hours for seniors and other particularly vulnerable populations, butnow Costco is scaling back those hours and only offering them twice a week.
When these special shopping hours were first introduced, they were only held twice per week but were quickly extended to be offered Monday through Friday. These hours were meant for senior shoppers and other guests who are immunocompromised or have disabilities to be in an emptier store in the morning immediately after extensive cleaning was done.
Now, effective July 13, these shopping hours will only be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.There are some stores with adjusted hours or exceptions to this new rule, and a full list of Costco warehouses offering different hours for these communities can be found on their website.
Costco still requires all individuals in stores to wear a face mask or face covering unless they are under the age of two or can't wear a mask due to medical reasons.Although shopping hours for seniors and other particularly vulnerable customers have been adjusted, Costco is still offering its priority access to healthcare workers and first responders so they can go to the front of the line at any time or location. Costco stores are also planning to roll out in-store samples once again soon.
