The Houston Texans have released veteran safety Ed Reed.
The acquisition in the off-season was lauded as a way to shore up weaknesses in the Texans defense. Shortly after Ed Reed signed with the Texans he underwent surgery for a torn labrum. An injury the Texans did not anticipate when Reed was signed.
Since the season began Reed has been vocal about the state of the Texans organization, saying after the loss to the Arizona Cardinals the team was, "Outplayed and outcoached."
Through the first nine games of the season Reed is ranked 73 out of 85 players in the safety position. Making him one of the worst safeties in the league. Reed signed a three-year $15 million contract and was set to make $4 million next season and $5 million in 2015.
