Millions of Texans will be making a trip of 50 miles or more this weekend. Spokesman Doug Shupe says Triple-A Texas is expecting an increase of two percent.
“Triple-A projects more than two and a half million Texans will be traveling,” he says -- and that's going 50 miles or more away from home.”
There are reasons.
“Some of the factors for that include labor market improvements, positive consumer expectations regarding disposable income,” Shupe says. “And, then also we're seeing increased housing values.”
Gas prices aren't expected to have a major impact on travel, but the current average is relatively low -- three dollars, 26 cents a gallon.
