The company most closely associated with Thanksgiving has a problem –

Butterball has reportedly told retailers they are only shipping half as many fresh, large turkeys this year as they have in the past.

Birds on some of the company farms are not gaining weight as quickly as they usually do.

You may be able to double up for the holidays; the shortage only applies to fresh, never frozen whole turkeys in sizes 16 pounds and up.

Butterball is the nation’s largest turkey producer, distributing more than a billion pounds each year.
